Yeah! Come on people, let’s rock n roll
So much has happened this week, though we have so much to still do, we can roll our waist in happiness to our achievements and lessons learnt! Missed our last update? Find it here
The Web3Bridge re-brand was fully done and successful, thanks to everyone on the team for committing their time to work on the logo, website, also grateful to all our friends, partners and the fellows at Kernel for their timely feedback and support!
In case you missed it, we have renamed our twitter account, moved to our new website and re-branded all our channels! Thanks to our first sponsor and continuous partner and believer Ethereum.Network, our old website is still active and we are exploring the added value to bring to the Nigeria ecosystem with the domain.
What we Achieved
Website: As we have mentioned earlier, we are excited about our migration and the work done on our new web page. The website will be instrumental to the opening of the new registration for the new phase of the program.
Partnerships: This last week has been favourable for us, as we have had a number of discussions around partnerships that have the potential to grow the project further and afford us the opportunity to further scale and build a robust program.
As we keep putting our best to ensure that the program grows and prosper, a number of projects have considered us partners in progress and we will both be collaborating to build a robust web3 ecosystem. We will continue to work with Ethereum.Network as they have been our only sponsor and top partner up until now, we are in discussion with the Kernel fellow team who are hyped to come in as sponsor and strategic partner (partnership detail soon to come), Ethereum Push Notification Service, Consensys Academy and Rare Birds, will be joining Cryptography Development Initiative in Nigeria, Crevatal and 1milliondev who have been supporting the program since idea conception.
Midway Expo: Our midway expo sure happened in the 6th week, however, we are sharing in this newsletter to ensure we are writing about the experience when it’s still very fresh. Pitching during the expo was very interesting with very encouraging feedback from the mentors who were assigned to our table.
Slack channel redesign: As part of the program re-brand, we open a #dev_community slack channel, this channel is opened to allow for dev interactions, allow for devs within and outside the program to collaborate, interact. This channel will serve as a general channel for devs across Africa and beyond. Interest join here
Apollo registration: Yes! We are going to the moon (ahahaha). During the week, we had an interesting chat with Vivek Singh (Gitcoin COO), he advised us to get one of our students into Apollo and match in like a team! Since our just graduating students submit interesting projects, we decide to apply for Apollo and we are going to be working on the Land Registry project Peter Ndiritu designed for Kenya, we will be building this with Filecoin and will be happy to update you about our experience.
WEEK 6 Target
Registration: With the whole program rebrand done, we are set to open the new registration for the program. This will open from Monday 24th August and close Saturday, 12th of September, 2020. The registration will include filling out a registration form and a live interview. We are putting together this process to ensure that we onboard top web2 developers across Africa into the program.
The registration will be open to web2 developers who are looking to migrate into the web3 ecosystem, also we those who have project ideas or looking to build web3 startups are welcomed as we are putting all the work together to ensure that we can raise web3 startups in Africa.
Mentor search and listing: Since we use an instructor- student learning approach in the program, we will be sourcing for mentors who are open to contributing their quota by mentoring participants in our program.
We are happy to close this newsletter by sharing a few of the messages sent to us by our just graduating students! Do ensure to comment, like, subscribe and reach out to us if you have some open discussion and opportunities to discuss.
