#500NigeriaDevs4Eth Kernel Newsletter
Kernel week 4: The web is facilitating growth of institutions
We are back! Let the drum roll
The week has been tremendously busy and we can say productive. Missed our last update? Read it here
The W3B3BRIDGE re-brand is coming along very nicely and the lessons at Kernel have been instrumental to the smooth transition and planned updates/upgrades we are seeing happening to 500NigeriaDevs4Eth. The W3B3BRIDGE update will be driven by a mission to discover web3 passion, create an active African web3 community and train them in a collaborative and supportive remote environment.
The number of feedback and progress we made this week, confirms our believe in the future we are creating for web3 in Africa.
What we Achieved
Website: We had a good run with the W3B3BRIDGE website, however we decided to redesign to make the theme and images represent what we are working to achieve.
Curriculum Development: Thanks to our technical team Allan & Daniel, the new curriculum outline was completed.
Boot camp round up: The last phase of 500NigeriaDevs4Eth rounded up on a good note with our finalists perfecting and submitting their codes. Final code review and live presentation of tasks will be done in the coming weeks.
Consensys Academy Scholarship: We are excited to announce that we were offered ten (10) scholarship slots at the Consensys Academy Developers Boot camp starting in September. The scholarship offer will first be awarded to interested finalists of the just concluded 500NigeriaDevs4Eth while the remaining opening will be awarded to individuals who deserved it and met the Consensys Academy onboarding criteria.
Consensys Academy Strategic Partnership: As an add-on and compensation to our effort in the last nine months, we will be entering a strategic partnership deal with Consensys Academy (we know you want the juicy details), we will be releasing the details in our future newsletters
Week 5 targets
Registration: The next phase of the W3B3BRIDGE program is proposed to open in the coming week. The registration will be opened to web2 developers across Africa as we will be working with strategic teams and organizations across Africa to ensure that competent developers register for the new phase. The registration process will be simple, detailed and will involve an interview to ensure the right persons are admitted.
Website: The final design of the W3B3BRIDGE website will be released by the end of the week in preparation for the registration.
Curriculum: The curriculum will be built out from the already designed outline. We will also be working on listing out the topic for the break out sessions in order for us to immediately reach out to top personalities in the web3 space who will be instrumental to taking these break out sessions. The breakout sessions will be targeted at getting the students to learn about the complete product life-cycle.
Mentor listing: We will be approaching all the amazing individuals that have shown interest in mentoring the next set of web3 giants coming out of Africa. A number of our fellows at Kernel have shown interest in working with us as mentors while we will also be open to discuss with individuals across the globe who will love to contribute.
ASK!
The Holy book says, Ask and ye shall receive, hence the reason we are asking!
We require the service of volunteer web3 mentors (As we know money is needed as the world is just getting out of a pandemic, we are working to raise funds to better incentivize the mentors).
We are looking to raise a whopping sum of $15,000 to ensure that this program keeps delivering the best results. Our target for the next 12 weeks is to achieve the introduction of a minimum of 400 web2 developers to web3, graduate a minimum of 50 web3 developers who will have full blown MVP level dApps and become open source contributors or working with various private teams and finally we are aiming to have supported and ensure the stability a minimum of 5 web3 startups across Africa.
Introducing us to web2 communities that might have developers passionate about web3 as we will love to have as much as possible applications in our next phase.
As we look forward to you reading our next update, we are happy to mention that our latest graduates will be onboarded into a channel where they will be further supported and guided into further open source contribution, bounty hunting and getting into internship and full time junior developers.
