#500NigeriaDevs4Eth Kernel Newsletter
Kernel week 2: The match towards building Africa's access to a new web
To make something good, just do it. To make something great, just re-do it, re-do it, re-do it. The secret to making fine things is in remaking them. ~ 68bits of unsolicited advice
Kernel week 2 was a very interesting time with more improved networking and catching up with mentors. There were few things to read and absorb, however lessons from the 68bits of unsolicited advice came handy as the wise advice though unsolicited, was resourceful to growth.
The Rebrand
The #500NigeriaDevs4Eth project has always been going through constant review as we believe there is always a better approach and coincidentally, Kevin Kelly advised the secret to making fine things is remaking it!
In our effort to make the web3 dev training better, we are rebranding from #500NigeriaDevs4Eth to W3B3BRIDGE (hurray!!!!). The proposal for this rebrand has been in the discussion before Kernel, however talking to fellows and mentors at Kernel has validated the necessity of the name change.
The change will also usher in the upward review of the training, open it up to accommodate more web2 developers across Africa (good enough we are having team members from Uganda), allow the program to effectively build, connect and launch web3 devs and startups across Africa. We had some details from week 1 about our new direction
What we achieved
Pitch Deck: We finished the program pitch deck and shared with mentors and other fellows for feedback. Thanks to Anne Connelly, Adrian le Bas, Jo-Ann Hamilton for amazing feedback.
Meet and greet: So far the program has attracted a good number of Kernel fellows with whom we have had collaborative discussions to understand what they are working on and how we can synergize to advance the web3 drive. We had an interesting chat with Anne Connelly, Eman Heraway & Maged M. Eljazzar (building amazing projects in the MENA region), John Shutt & Vanna Conyers (Oya marketplace)
Coindesk feature: Awosika Ayodeji the program coordinator got featured in a Coindesk article that covered the Ethereum lifestyle and brand.
Week 3 Targets.
Curriculum: We are reviewing the previous curriculum to ensure that it properly fits into our new vision and targets. We are looking forward to creating a curriculum that will foster learning alongside interaction and collaboration between the students of the upcoming cohort.
Program Structure: We are also reviewing the program structure in order to encourage constant and prompt student participation. Participation has been a big problem in the previous cohorts and we are looking to make the process more exciting so the learners can stick around till the very end.
Excited for the rebrand, makes other nationalities included
